My love for you....

It’s almost been 12 years since I fell in love with you...

When I first met you all I could think was ‘what a cute guy’...

The second time I saw you I was head over heels for you...

Soon after you broke my heart...

But we both held on to each other by a thread called ‘friendship’...

Once strangers we became best friends...

We parted ways after three years, embarking on another journey of life...

But I could not truly move on...

I saw you in every face...

I imagined being with you wherever I went...

I always thought what would you think?

What if you don’t like the new me?

What if you thought I was not good enough anymore?

My mind would subconsciously compare others with you...

Try to find reason to not like someone...

To push someone away...

I succeeded because you are that important to me...

I still dream of you sometimes...

I want to talk to you sometimes...

There’s so many things I want to tell you, share with you...

I pull up your number in my phone...

But my fingers turns numb...

The emotional trauma is too much to bear...

I promise myself no more pain..

But come next day and I am back to where it all began...

I wish love wasn’t this hard...

I wish you could love me the way I do...

I wish I could love someone else the way I love you...

Not because I want to move on, but because I want to end the suffering...

I hope you stay happy always...

I hope I find my happy place...

Black is the colour of the rain

Black is the colour
Of the rain that falls today
Black is the farm
And the crop that grows on it
Black is the sown
Black is thy plough
Oh bygone William, black is now your reaper
Black is the bone and black is the eye
So which is the daisy, which one the dew?

On that land of ice
White melts in fear
Sun burns away
Moon no more there

The whole world burns
Even the flame’s colour is black
So why play Holi
Coal will always smile

Yet there’s a heart
That smears a crumb of hope
The moon may be whitewashed
The rainbow painted anew

Sailing the sea

Poetry is the yacht on which I sail the sea
I fear the storm no more
I carry a storm within

Colour me not today

Colour me not today
I was black for a day
On the land
Where red and green bickered
Let the white now prevail

Inferno

A fire kissed a fire
And a fire burnt
Two flames charred together
One singed, burnt alone

Audacious,
 Like a tendril unashamed
The fire coiled itself over the other
Fluttered, defiantly in searing wind
Stroked a spine as it slithered up
Lipped the defenceless neck that quivered
Burnt the nape with its tapered tip.

One surrendered
The other devoured
Licking, flame by flame
The third watched
Like the cactus watched the rosemary and bee.

All three writhed
Their heart an inferno.

Lurid

Love placates despair

Darkness goes yonder

Sky trembles in lurid hope

Moon takes off its clothes

Eyes

My eyes,

Saw yours,

Felt

What the sand feels for the cloud

One thousand rainbows later

One thousand rainbows later, time will pause for a moment
To turn around and look back across time,
Where it shall encounter me
In your past and in my present.

And I would greet it with joy
Of that imperishable kind with which past greets its future,
Laugh with it, the way I laugh with you
And I would tell it all about your ancient glory
And it would fill me in with your glory eternalized
And we would talk till the moon joins in
Croon till the cricket chants along
Till I run out of memories
Till it runs out of time,

Heavy with nostalgia, time would bid me bye
Slip back to where it came from
Not knowing that it never did leave me
Never could leave me
Entirely.
For
The wraith of my world will walk over your wall.

Dishope

She stalked me

Like a wave does to the rock

Then receded in a smirk

Like a tide that devoured its desire

But a flame she left behind

Not of hope but of dishope

And the flame grew

Not in mass, but in fire

Until it charred me

And until I singed the moon

Whole night.

Only if I could burn the stars …

Sonnet IV: On the way to love

Image source: FineArtAmerica.com via Google images

On the way to love,
I got stabbed by ice.
Dead was my crepuscule
As dawn had sealed the dice
Those eyes had me under their siege
And those lips that charmed
Entranced I was, I hopped in trance
And then behold, she stabbed by ice.

But hope sprouted, again, like a stray vine
Shamelessly, creeping into my heart, growing, spreading poison
Till it outgrew the love.

And now there is hope
More than there is love
But less than there is ice....

Sonnet III: The Vagabond

Oy you, why you scamper
From one bosom to the other,
Seeking refuge not in one place
Travelling, leaving but an infinitesimal trace.

Stay you must behind the ribs
Where you grew, learnt how to love
More importantly, how many to love
But you misbehave, mess with the laws

Mend your ways, do mend your ways
And if you can't, let  final be these days,
Leave, permanently leave
Go become a felon, no more a vagabond
Vacate this body, share with it no bond
Sans you, stripped of you, must the breast bereave...

An accustomed Earth

It rained, it sunned
It rained, it sunned
It rained, it sunned
It rained, and the sun emerged no more

Sonnet II: A one-day crush

The withered flower once lush
Will stay withered till forever
Its life was never for ever
In death but, it impersonates my crush

That woman, made of the other clay
Not more not less but a day old
Trespassed borders, enclosed my heart within her fold
Not more not less only for a day

Heart I had none, and she toyed with two
The searing flame burnt, wasn’t anything new
Cupid gave a tip off, yet the heart flew
And then it came back, as if a returned loan
Was it returned really or returned on its own?
It loved for a day, the love never grew

Yellowed lovers (A sonnet)

Love is for always some say
It is not fleeting, evanescent neither
Strengthens in today, also in tomorrow, closer as well as thither
But feelings too have shelf life, I pray.

Some crushes wither, some tremble, some die
Who had a heart that sought a lone one
That God of Yellow when couldn’t commit to one
Flowers again bloom, as feelings wink and moments fly.

Then what of the ancient flame
That once had fire enough to parch?
Was it weak so much, now your heart is impelled to march?
Nay, cold fire now, how can it stay the same!

As for they, they are but memories mere…
Old yellowed lovers, faded, receded, not near…..

Poem: A hurt heart

Source: Google image

You rebuffed me once
There won't be a twice
Your heart may change its mind
No superior suitor, it could find
But my mind has shuffled the dice
My heart though hurt, now is wise...

One thousand moonlights away
We kissed as if there was no tomorrow......
Then the terrible cloud travelled in
It turned the moon off
And we kissed coz there was no tomorrow.......

A short poem: December love

There is a nip in the air today
December seems closer, not far away
The kiss of love I yearn from below
But it is the haughty star that winks with its fellow

A very short story: Fault in the stars

And just when the stars were about to kiss each other, the lonely cloud turned off the moon.
There was a fault in their stars.
